| Landscape and wildlife photography by Todd Palmquist |

| For this years solo trip I chose an entry point and route to an area I have never visited before. Snowbank Lake, about 10 miles east of Ely, is a large lake on the edge of the wilderness and the beginning of my journey. As with most of my trips, the goal is to photograph the "big 3"; thats moose, bears and wolves. I heard wolves on Thomas Lake and listened to nearby campers on Knife Lake try to chase a bear from their camp, but saw neither. The moose kept themselves hidden as well. I kept myself busy photographing the beautiful landscape of the north woods and the smaller critters that call it home. I've included some of my favorite images from the trip below. I hope you enjoy! | Even though I didn't capture all the images I was after, I consider the trip a success. No equipment breakdowns or losses, no injuries or mishaps and the only bad-weather day was mostly just wind and not an all day rain or severe storm. I caught enough fish for a few dinners and entertainment when the light was bad for photography. I hope you enjoyed the photos and till next time, happy paddling... - Todd Palmquist |
